Foston 20% w/v Solution for Injection for cattle & dogs 50ml.
A clear, sterile, colourless 20% w/v solution for injection of the sodium salt of Toldimphos. Its content of organically combined phosphorus is 14%. It contains 0.6 w/v Phenylethyl alcohol as the antimicrobial preservative and 0.2% w/v anhydrous sodium sulphite as an antioxidant.
An organically combined phosphorus preparation for the support of metabolic activity in cattle and dogs. Indications include:
Skeletal defects – rickets and osteomalacia or promotion of rapid union in fractures, particularly when associated with Vitamin D therapy.
Tetany and paresis – caused by disorders of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus metabolism (post-parturient paresis, lactation tetany, grass tetany, etc.). In these cases, Foston has a synergistic effect when given in conjunction with specific magnesium or calcium therapy.
General metabolic disorders – Foston is a useful form of therapy in the treatment of debility, whether during convalescence or the result of nutritional disorders. It may be useful after difficult parturition, in debility of the newborn and in deficiency syndromes in cattle and dogs of all ages.
Dosage and administration
Dogs: depending on size and weight
Dosage to be repeated to clinical effect.
Administer by intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
In severe cases where rapid absorption is required the dosage may be given as half by intravenous injection and half by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Multiple injection sites may be used.
The stopper should not be punctured more than 25 times.
For chronic conditions 5–10 subcutaneous or intramuscular injections should be given at 48 hour intervals with the following dose rates:

Observe aseptic precautions throughout the course of therapy.
Meat: Zero days
Milk: Zero hours
For animal treatment only. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Do not store above 25°C.
Following withdrawal of the first dose, use the product within 14 days.
When the product is broached for the first time, calculate the discard date and write this in the space provided on the label. (A statement of the in-use shelf life of the product is given on the packaging leaflet, from which the discard date may be calculated.)
Wash hands after use.
Dispose of any unused product and empty containers in accordance with guidance from your local waste regulation authority.
