Target species
Rabbits, guinea pigs and ferrets over 1.2 kg body weight, and birds over 666 g body weight.
Indications for use
Topical insecticidal and acaricidal spot-on solution. A simple and effective spot-on solution for prevention and treatment of common internal and external parasites of small mammals and birds.
Applied to the skin, Xeno 450 is absorbed into the body and is particularly effective against the parasites which cause ear disease in the rabbit and ferret, and the mites that cause skin disease in guinea pigs and rabbits, including mange in guinea pigs and the condition known as walking dandruff in rabbits. It is also effective against many of the parasites which cause skin and feather problems in birds.
The active substance, ivermectin, is a substance known as an endectocide because it kills parasites that cause infestation inside the body (endoparasites) as well as those living outside the body on the skin (ectoparasites). Ivermectin is used in many species for the control of mites, roundworms and lice.
Contraindications
Do not use in animals other than those indicated. Serious reactions, including deaths, have been reported in dogs (especially Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and related breeds), tortoises and turtles treated with products containing the active substance.
This product is toxic to chelonians. Do not use in tortoises, turtles or related species.
Special warnings
Do not overdose.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals
Wash hands with soap and water following treatment.
Adverse reactions
Occasionally, central nervous system disorders, lethargy, inappetance, local irritation and/or hypersensitivity reactions may be observed. These signs may be more common in young animals. Should such a reaction occur, discontinue use and seek veterinary advice.
If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this data sheet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.
Method of administration
Topical insecticidal and acaricidal spot-on solution. Each pipette contains 450 µg ivermectin. Each pipette contains approximately 20 drops. Each drop will deliver approximately 22.5 µg ivermectin.
 
Xeno 450 Spot-on Dosage Guidelines

2.25 kg to 4.5 kg - Use 2 pipettes
4.5 kg to 6.75 kg  - Use 3 pipettes
 
Birds (225 µg/kg)
Over 666 g body weight - 1 drop per 100 g body weight
 
Avoid use in or around the eyes. Do not overdose. In order to apply a correct dosage it is essential to accurately weigh the animal. Your veterinary practice can help you to do this. For birds less than 666 g consider the use of Xeno 50-mini or Xeno 200 spray.
Mammals: Using the dosage table, apply the correct number of drops or pipettes onto the skin on the back of the neck and down the spine.
Birds: Apply 1 drop (22.5 µg) per 100 g body weight under the feathers onto the skin of the back between the wings.
For routine prevention of common ectoparasites this dose should be repeated monthly.
For the treatment of an existing infestation, repeat doses are required two weeks and four weeks after the initial application.
Withdrawal period
For pet animals only. Do not use in animals intended for human consumption. Do not eat eggs from treated birds.
