Description

Presentation Tylan Soluble is tylosin tartrate BP (Vet), a white to buff coloured soluble powder for oral solution. Each bottle contains 100 g of tylosin activity. Uses For the prevention and treatment of bovine pneumonia associated with bovine respiratory Mycoplasma or Pasteurella multocida sensitive to tylosin. For the control of Mycoplasma synoviae airsacculitis in broiler chickens and Mycoplasma gallisepticum S6 in chickens and turkeys. In the field Tylan Soluble has also proved useful in reducing the level of infection following stress association with live vaccination. For the prevention and control of enzootic pneumonia, swine dysentery and other scours caused by organisms (e.g. Lawsonia intracellularis) sensitive to tylosin, in pigs. As an aid in the control of outbreaks of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridia perfringens in chickens. Dosage and administration Calves One gram of Tylan Soluble per young calf administered orally twice daily for seven to fourteen days. The product may be incorporated into the milk or reconstituted milk replacer at the time of feeding. Broiler chickens and turkeys Tylan Soluble is administered in the drinking water at a concentration of 0.5 g per litre (2.3 g/gal). Recommended programmes for poultry are as follows: Chickens Class of stock Age Tylan Soluble at 0.5 g per litre Broilers 0–3 days 4th week of life 35 g per 1,000 birds Turkeys Class of stock Age Tylan Soluble at 0.5 g per litre Table 0–5 days 12.5 g per 100 birds Turkeys 4th week of life 7.5 g per 100 birds For treatment of mycoplasmosis Class of stock Tylan Soluble at 0.5 g per litre Broilers 24–72hours medication Layers and Replacement Pullets 48–72hours medication Turkeys 48–72hours medication As an aid in the control of necrotic enteritis in chickens: Use Tylan in the drinking water for 5 days at a concentration of 0.15g per litre of water (150ppm) Pigs For the prevention and control of swine dysentery and enzootic pneumonia, Tylan soluble is administered in the drinking water to provide 25 mg/kg bodyweight. This may be achieved by adding 0.25g per litre (1.1 g/gal). For the prevention and control of Ileitis, Tylan soluble is administered in the drinking water to provide 5 - 10 mg/kg bodyweight. This may be achieved by adding 0.05 - 0.1g per litre (0.22 - 0.44 g/gal) A medicated solution of drinking water should be administered until 24 hours after scouring has ceased. The diagnosis should be reviewed if no response after 5 days of medication. Contra-indications, warnings, etc Keep out of reach of children. For animal treatment only. Do not use the same solution for more than three days. Do not leave or dispose of water containing tylosin tartrate where it may be accessible to animals not under treatment, or wildlife. Tylan Soluble should not be used in layers producing eggs for human consumption. Withdrawal Period Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption during treatment. Calves: may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 14 days from the last treatment. Broiler chickens 1 day withdrawal; Turkeys and pigs: nil withdrawal period. Operator warnings Direct contact of tylosin tartrate with skin or conjuctivae should be avoided. Wash hands and any splashes immediately with soap and water. Pharmaceutical precautions Store in a dry place below 25°C. Any medicated water which is not consumed within three days should be discarded. Legal category POM-V (previously POM).
