Why breathability depends upon water repellency...
Breathable waterproof footwear is most likely to get sweaty and wet inside when used in damp or wet conditions. If the outer fabric or leather absorbs water, the breathability of the footwear will be reduced. Therefore, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) of your footwear must be maintained to ensure comfort. It will eventually wear off and need to be renewed with Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof.
Waterproof footwear needs to be breathable...
When you're active and wearing footwear, your socks draw moisture away from your feet, keeping them dry. However, if your footwear absorbs water and ‘wets out' its breathability will be reduced. Moisture vapour will not be able to escape through the material, so your feet will feel clammy and wet. Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR), which prevents water absorption, whilst maintaining breathability, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.
Use Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof when your footwear soaks up water...
Your footwear could be soaking up water just because it is dirty. First, try cleaning it with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel™, and if it is fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalised just from cleaning. But, once the footwear has been thoroughly worn you will need to add DWR, using Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof, after cleaning first with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel.
Cleaning properly can be as important as waterproofing...
Using the right cleaning product is as important as using the right waterproofing product. Conventional detergents leave behind a thin water-absorbent film on materials, which masks their Durable Water Repellency (DWR). Therefore, always clean your waterproof footwear with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel. Remember that dirt itself works against DWR, so regular cleaning will enhance performance.

Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof is easy and quick to apply; either spray or sponge on to wet boots. Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof provides highly Durable Water Repellency (DWR) which develops on air drying. It leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibres of fabric and leather. This allows moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability and keeping your feet dry. Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof has been specifically designed and optimised for fabric and leather combination footwear.
Apply Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof by hand...
Brush off dirt with a damp cloth and clean using Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel.
Shake well before use. Protect work surface.
Apply generously to wet footwear; spray from a distance of 5cm or sponge on.
Carefully remove excess drips or runs and allow to dry naturally.
Note: Light/coloured fabric and/or leather may darken after treatment. Test on a hidden area first.
Always allow footwear to dry naturally...
Leave footwear to dry at room temperature.
Paper can be stuffed into the toes to absorb excess moisture, this should be replaced when wet.
Keep footwear away from fires and radiators, drying too quickly can crack leather and cause bonded soles to peel.

Most orders are despatched the same day and standard delivery is 3 to 5 working days from despatch. FAST Expedited options are available at extra cost - these usually arrive in 24-48hrs from dispatch but delays are possible during busy periods.
Postcodes outside of Zone 1 (including some areas within mainland UK) may incur extra carriage charges due to surcharges imposed by the couriers. These will be calculated on the website at the checkout.
NB: Orders placed with faster delivery must be placed before 13:00 to ensure same day dispatch (excluding weekends and bank holidays). Please also check on the product page that the items ordered show 'In Stock' otherwise your order will be delayed until the stock becomes available, which in most cases will only be 24hrs.

Refrigerated Items
Refrigerated items will be sent by carrier or express delivery at a cost of £7.50, with coolpacks, unless you pay for a premium for a refrigerated delivery. We will contact you prior to despatch for your instructions.
We want you to be completely satisfied with any purchase. If not any item* can be returned to us within 14 days of receipt for exchange or refund Please give us a ring for a returns number on 01833 641112 or alternatively email sales@hyperdrug.co.uk to obtain a returns number.
*Due to legal requirements medicines may not be returned except to correct an error in despatch or in response to an "official recall". If an item is believed to be faulty it should be returned for inspection and it may be necessary to forward it to the manufacturers for testing before replacements or refunds can be authorised. This does not infringe legal rights. Please contact our customer services for a "Returns Number" which must appear on the outside of the package or it will not be accepted. We advise customers to use an insured method of shipping and to retain proof of despatch. We may refuse returns on products specially obtained or manufactured to order. Items must be returned unsoiled and unused and sent adequately packed and carriage paid.
