Quantum Dog CPV (pack of 25) |
|
Presentation
A clear liquid vaccine containing a living attenuated strain of canine parvovirus.
Uses
For the vaccination of dogs against canine parvovirus.
Dosage and administration
The contents of 1 vial should be given by subcutaneous injection. Shake the vial before use.
PRIMARY VACCINATION: It is well documented that high levels of maternally derived antibody can interfere with an active immune response to vaccination. Maternal antibodies to parvovirus can persist until 16–18 weeks of age. Vaccination with Quantum Dog CPV can produce active immunity in the presence of maternally derived antibody, allowing the completion of the primary vaccination course by 12 weeks of age.
The vaccination programme described below is given as a general guide, but may be further modified to suit particular circumstances.
First dose of Quantum Dog CPV from 6 weeks of age. A final dose is recommended at 12 weeks of age.
BOOSTER VACCINATION: A single dose of Quantum Dog CPV is recommended annually.
Contra-indications, warnings, etc
Do not use in pregnant bitches.
Do not vaccinate unhealthy dogs.
Do not vaccinate dogs that have been treated with immuno-suppressive drugs or hyperimmune serum within the last month.
The vaccine must not be exposed to or be contaminated by alcohol or other disinfectants as this could inactivate the living virus.
Following primary vaccination, dogs should remain isolated from possible sources of infection for at least 7 days.
Keep out of reach of children.
For animal treatment only.
ADVERSE REACTIONS: As with all vaccines occasional hypersensitivity reactions may occur. In such cases appropriate treatment such as adrenaline or antihistamine should be administered without delay.
Pharmaceutical precautions
Store between +2°C and +8°C. Protect from light. Do not use chemically sterilised needles or syringes.
Legal category
POM-V (previously POM)
Packaging Quantities
Packs containing 25 vials of Quantum Dog CPV liquid vaccine.
Further information
In any animal population there may be a small number of individuals which fail to respond fully to vaccination. Successful vaccination depends upon correct storage and administration of the vaccine together with the animal's ability to respond. This can be influenced by such factors as genetic constitution, intercurrent infection, age, the presence of maternally-derived antibodies, nutritional status, concurrent drug therapy and stress.
