Utilises the latest the latest computer technology to produce an ultrasonic 'no-go' area for cats and other unwanted animals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The PestBan has three power settings, high, med & low, projecting random bursts of ultrasonic sound in the frequency range 13-25 KHz, plus a volume switch.
The PestBan kit comprises the following:
* Weather resistant unit
* Mounting bracket
* British Standard 12 volt Mains Adaptor
* 30ft connecting cable
Operating instructions
Having installed the PestBan in the required position and direction of your choice, switch the power to OFF position. Select frequency switch HIGH, MED, LOW, depending on the choice of the animal you wish to repel. Connect AC power adaptor to mains and plug the jack plug into the rear of the unit. Slide power switch to ON position. Red LED lights continuously when unit is operating. Swivel unit in chosen direction. The direction may be varied for optimum effectiveness.
Settings/Frequency
HIGH Cats
MED Cats, Dogs, Deer
LOW Rats, Mice, Rabbits, Squirrels
Volume
The volume control allows you to select the sound intensity level suitable for your garden or location. The high setting (119dB) is intending for large gardens with lots of foliage or trees which tend to absorb sound. It may be necessary to restrict the use of this model around those with sensitive hearing, because the sound may be annoying. Medium and low setting, 100dB and 90 dB are more suitable for protecting smaller areas or close to neighbouring boundries.
Coverage & Placement
PestBan can be installed almost anywhere as long as it is orientated to cover the area that needs protection. For example, the unit can be hung under eaves, attached to walls, outbuildings or posts. It can also be set or placed on any flat surface.
NB The unit should be placed at or near the ear level of the animals you wish to repel. We suggest that to protect against larger animals such as deer, the unit should be placed 1m above the ground. To repel smaller animals, such as cats, place the unit about 30cm above ground level.
A large garden area with dense folaige may need more than one unit to protect it different animals entry points.
When placed under the eaves, the sounds will emit in a horizontal plane, therefore it is important to point the speaker downward at the correct angle to cover the area being protected.
PestBan covers an area approx 8000 sq ft. Buildings and shrubbery may block the sound, The unit must be mounted so as to face the area to be protected.
For lawns and areas with low shrubbery, place the unit 1-3ft above the ground. If the area has heavy foliage, you will get better results by placing the unit higher, between 5-8ft from the ground, and aiming the unit slightly downwards.
Changing the location and angle of the unit, at random intervals, as well as changing the sound frequency settings, all help to increase the effectiveness of the PestBan.
To adjust and tighten vetical movement of the swivel mount, remove transparent weatherproof cover with ponited screwdriver or knife, tighten nut & bolt as required.
Suggested Settings
Domesticated pets: Dogs respond better to the MED setting. (Research has shown that dogs, like humans, often lose their high frequency hearing as they get older.) Cats respond better to HIGH setting. If you have problems with both, we suggest you use the MED setting.
Wild Animals: Wild animals rely more on their hearing and therefore any setting may be effective against a variety of wild animals, however the LOW/MED setting is recommended for rats, weasels and foxes, and the MED setting for deers.
CAUTION
PestBan is intended to solve problems with neighbourhood pets and stray animals, please use the unit carefully. Sometimes PestBan is very irritating to dogs and cats. Projecting it at a caged or leashed animal may be cruel. It is intended for use on your own property. Aiming the unit into neighbouring gardens or public places is not recommended. Please note, although ultrasonic sound is inaudible to most people, some people will be able to hear the unit at MED or LOW settings. If you do not feel comfortable, change the setting to HIGH
