Imodium Instants (pack of 6) |

Imodium Instants are used for the symptomatic relief of diarrhoea only and are not suitable for rehydration therapy. If symptoms persist for more than 24 hours, consult your doctor.
Each tablet contains loperamide 2mg of active ingredient.
Dose:Adults and children over 12 years:Take two tablets initially,followed,if required,by one tablet after every further loose bowel movement,up to a max. of 6 per day.
Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Orodispersible tablet.
Imodium Instant Melts are white to off-white, circular, freeze-dried tablets.
For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea and acute episodes of diarrhoea associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome diagnosed by a doctor

Adults, the elderly, and children 12 years and over:
Acute diarrhoea
Two tablets initially followed by 1 tablet after every loose stool. The usual dose is 3-4 tablets/day; the maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 tablets.
Symptomatic treatment of acute episodes of diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults
Two tablets initially. The usual dose is 2-4 tablets/day in divided doses depending on severity. If required, this dose can be adjusted according to response, up to a maximum of 8 tablets daily.
Elderly:
No dose adjustment is required for the elderly.
Renal impairment:
No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.
Hepatic impairment:
Although no pharmacokinetic data are available in patients with hepatic impairment, Imodium Instant Melts should be used with caution in such patients because of reduced first pass metabolism. (see 4.4 Special warnings and special precautions for use).
Method of administration: Oral use. Allow the tablet to disintegrate on the tongue and swallow the medication.

Imodium Instant Melts is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to loperamide hydrochloride or to any of the excipients.
Imodium Instant Melts should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.
Imodium Instant Melts must not be used when inhibition of peristalsis is to be avoided due to the possible risk of significant sequelae including ileus, megacolon and toxic megacolon, in particular:
• When ileus or constipation are present or when abdominal distension develops, particularly in severely dehydrated children
• In patients with acute ulcerative colitis
• In patients with bacterial enterocolitis caused by invasive organisms including Salmonella, Shigella, and Campylobacter
• In patients with pseudomembranous colitis associated with the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics
Imodium Instant Melts should not be used alone in acute dysentery, which is characterised by blood in stools and elevated body temperatures.
