Horn’up was conceived to meet the needs of dehorning of cattle. It was developed to respect the recommendations about animal well-being.
Onced charged for 16 hours it can be recharged at any time without detriment to the battery. The battery should not be fully discharged at any time. The heating element always reaches 700*C within 1 second and is held at this temp for the 7 second cycle by the microprocessor temp managemnt scheme. One charged will do alteast 40 animals.
Directions for use.
Put the calf in a crush and immobilise the head.
Administer the anaesthetic and allow sufficient time to take effect.
shear around the horn bud with a clipper before dehorning. This allows clear location of the bud and helps prevent infection and allows inspection at a later date.
Place the heating element around the base of the horn bud.
Pull the ear to one side to stretch in skin free from wrinkles.
Press the on button and keep it pressed down throughout the cycle.
You will hear three short beeps and the indicator light will come on to show the 7 second dehorning cycle has started and apply the pressure.
After 2 to3 seconds, rotate the device 45* two or three times . After 7 seconds the nonstop short beeps will tell you it has ceased operating.
Release the button and do not try and remove the bud.
Apply a disinfectant spray into and arround the wound.
