For a general-purpose barrier cream then Protocon Ointment provides a disinfectant barrier for wounds and lesions. For a traditional alternative why not try Zinc Ointment which includes antiseptic properties.

There are numerous wound dressings which will aid healing, including:
Jelonet Dressings– a fine gauze impregnated with sterile soft paraffin to prevent bandages adhering to the wound.
Skintact are similar to Jelonet in that they do not adhere to the wound but without the paraffin. Skintact are also sterile and come in a sealed packet to ensure sterility.
For the treatment of local inflammatory swellings and bruising, including tendonitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis and other acute inflammatory conditions of the muscular-skeletal system in the horse, then Tensolvet offers the ideal solution. Tensolvet also promotes the early re-absorption of haematoma and oedematous swelling resulting from such conditions. Tensolvet has been shown to increase the blood flow through the underlying skin.
For a good general purpose bandage then the ever-popular Vetrap offers and excellent solution. Adhering only to itself, Vetrap offers a particularly good solution to leg injuries. As a cheaper alternative why not try Easitape which works in exactly the same way as Vetrap but at a much lower cost.
