CLIK POUR-ON is a water-based, ready-to-use, pour-on formulation, containing 5% w/v dicyclanil.
Uses
For the long term prevention of blowfly strike on sheep and lambs. Correctly applied protection will last for 16 weeks.
CLIK acts on fly larvae. It's growth-regulating mechanism results in the interference of moulting and pupation, thereby stopping larval development.
Dosage and administration
Dose
CLIK is applied at 0.6-2ml (30-100mg dicyclanil)/kg bodyweight according to the following recommendations:
Sheep weight (kg) Total volume/ sheep (ml)
10-20 20
21-30 25
31-50 30
>50 35
Note that lambs receive a relatively higher dose per kg liveweight than adult sheep. This is because the dose is based on surface area rather than bodyweight.
Method and route of administration
For external use only.
Shake the container well before use.
CLIK must be applied using the Novartis Pour-on gun with a fan spray nozzle, which ensures the correct spread of the product on the fleece. Best results are achieved by holding the gun approximately 18'' from the sheep during application. Apply as a fan spray along the spine of the animal in a band at least 4" wide from the middle of the shoulders to the rump and in an arc around the crutch and tail. Half the dose should be applied along the spine, with the remainder over the tail and crutch area.
CLIK is administered once, before or at the beginning of fly activity. Correctly applied protection will last for 16 weeks.
It is recommended that animals with dirty back-ends are dagged prior to application. If dagging or crutching is undertaken in the weeks following application, these animals should be re-treated, otherwise protection could be lost.
Dry or damp animals can be treated but do not treat very wet animals.
Do not apply during heavy rainfall, or when such conditions are expected. Treated sheep must be kept away from watercourses for at least one hour after treatment. There is a serious risk to aquatic life if this advice is not followed.
